1996 Jenny Wins US Olympic Trials Marathon

Jenny breaks the tape and crosses the finish line exhausted but in pure joy, winning the US Women's Olympic Trials Marathon on February 10, 1996, in Columbia, SC. She completed the difficult and hilly marathon course in a personal best time of 2:29:54, averaging 5:43 per mile. By finishing first on that day, Jenny became the very first 1996 US Olympian to qualify for a US team, male or female, in any event.
